About Attorney Bernard T. Kennedy III
Early Interest in Law
Attorney Kennedy realized he wanted to become a lawyer while managing a local music group in his early twenties.
Bernard remembers researching topics like how to copyright a song, standard terms for record label contracts, and registering and securing a trademark. In hindsight, his earlier role as a music manager would be the catalyst for his future career in law.
While studying for the LSAT, Attorney Kennedy worked for a congressman’s district office in Miami, Florida. He later joined the congressman’s reelection campaign and was the primary point of contact during all campaign stops.
Legal Education
Once enrolled at the Roger Williams University School of Law, Bernard was captivated by the brilliant legal minds that covered his textbook pages, and he absorbed every word, theory, and legal test presented.
As a Law School student, Attorney Kennedy founded and served as President of Roger William’s first Employment and Labor Law Society.
He also shadowed Connecticut judges and collaborated with Rhode Island administrative hearing officers.
While a student attorney, Bernard provided legal aid for a Veteran’s Affairs clinic — work for which he later received the Excellence for the Future “CALI” Award.
Law Experience
After earning his Doctor of Juris Prudence (J.D.), as he awaited his Bar exam results, Attorney Kennedy worked as an assistant clerk in Waterbury, Connecticut, processing court orders for civil, family, and housing matters.
Once successfully admitted to the Connecticut State Bar, Bernard utilized his empathy as an associate attorney in child protection services. In the role, he took pride in representing Connecticut parents and children in child abuse and neglect cases.
Later, while pursuing his legal path of practice, Attorney Kennedy supported various clients throughout Connecticut with estate planning, probate administration, small business matters, and more.
Legal Entrepreneurship
In 2023, Bernard became a solo practitioner and opened The Law Office of Bernard T. Kennedy III — offering clients custom estate planning, intellectual property, probate administration, and small business services.
